DEPENDENCE captures my Matchless Independence 35 — a three-channel Matchless combo with a wide-open voice, rich gain structure, and incredible touch response.
This pack includes 7 core profiles across all three channels, moving from clear, harmonically rich cleans into edge-of-breakup, pushed rhythm, and thicker drive tones. Every profile was captured through the amp’s own Matchless 2x12 cabinet loaded with Celestion G12H30 speakers, preserving the sound and feel of the combo as a complete amp.
The Independence 35 runs on EL34 power tubes, giving DEPENDENCE a firm low end, strong midrange push, and a beautiful sense of weight under the fingers. It still has that unmistakable Matchless clarity and harmonic detail, but with its own voice, feel, and gain range.
For this Kemper version, the amp was profiled using Kemper’s new Profiling 2.0 process, which brings some welcome improvements to the way the amp and cabinet are captured.
